Joe Rice, a 1979 accounting graduate of Mississippi State University’s College of Business, has built a distinguished career in financial advising rooted in humility, hard work, and service. After graduating with an accounting degree, Rice spent 28 years with Merrill Lynch before continuing his career with Raymond James & Associates, where he leads Rice Wealth Advisors in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Recognized nationally by Barron’s and the Financial Times as one of the country’s top financial advisors, Rice credits his success to the strong foundation he received at Mississippi State and the values instilled by his family. Beyond his professional achievements, he remains deeply committed to giving back—serving on the College of Business Executive Advisory Board, including as chair, and supporting numerous community and faith-based organizations—while continuing to champion the student experience and proudly represent the Bulldog spirit.

The Accountancy program here has best prepared me for real life applications in accounting by giving me and other students access to interact with different companies for jobs or internships through tabling events and the accounting career fair every fall. This program does such a good job of making sure we feel prepared going into the workforce after graduation, and I am grateful that I get to be a part of that.
